Circus on the Move!

Got the ball rolling with getting my magazine pages sorted! I have just loaded up my images and started working on them in photoshop, i'm already getting excited about them! They are going to look great, only problem is i my college has been closed for a week! soooo our group hasnt met up to see where we are all at so i've just had to crack on and do what i thinks best for now, adjusments can be made later!

Heres the start of my pieces....

Crime Story- Lobster Boy
Profile- Lady Le Gros, Fat Lady and an interview with her.

Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns, News Story

As you can see i still have a fair bit of work to do, all the spaces are for the written parts of the article as you can probably gues. This project will be good practice for me with using text because its one area i'm not so confident in

I am focusing on 'freaks' , 'coulrophobia', 'crime stories', 'profile of a fat lady', and 'future circus'.

Seven Deadly Sins Continued....

Just a quicky...got some proper photographs taken of my seven deadly sins project and they look amazing. I toyed around with shadow more and got some really great high contrast pics, here they are....

Tone

I have recently designed a piece for Tone which is a small magazine that gives people a chance to show their work and advertise themselves. The theme was 'character' so i designed a piece called 'Batman- the later years'. As you can see it's a more humorous take on batman, and not as dark as some of my usual pieces! I am trying to direct my work towards a more pleasant style.

Self Portrait

Well I have been working on a project called connect>create and I have finaly finished my piece.

It is a self portrait with a surreal retro twist. I used inspiration from Peter Blake's pop art work, combining what i like from day to day (which is pretty much what every other young woman likes, jewellry, reading, a good cuppa tea, having a drink, listening to music, reading, texting and drawing) I feel having produced it on photoshop adds more to the idea of it being a modern self portrait. Well see what you think...
I'm still not entirely happy with it but its always a piece i can come back to when i get a spurt of creativness!

Mural

Again a recent thing i have done is another mural for a secondary school.

This mural was based on renewable energy, the teacher wanted windturbines and solar panels incorporated in the piece. The piece was needed for the opening of the Renewable Energy Learning Centre there. http://www.shtc.org.uk/index_.php?page=RELC
It was so hard to get a good picture because of the width of the corridor but never mind!

Seven Deadly Sins

Well most recently at college i have been working on a project called the seven deadly sins. The aim of the project was to produce a set of 7 3D pieces!
I had so many ideas for this one from tunnel books to adjusting underwear to each sin but i decided upon creating 7 boxes. These weren't just plain old boxes though, for each Box i created a character that was a hybrid of that sin's punishment, colour, animal and the human. I produced some really crazy creatures, I was very happy with my outcome. Cutting out my characters with a scalpel was a right pain but worth it.....

Envy!

Animal-Dog

Punishment- Put in Freezing Water

Colour- Green

Gluttony!
Animal-Pig
Punishment- Forced to eat rats, toads and snakes
Colour- Orange

Sloth!
Animal- Goat
Punishment-Thrown in Snake Pits
Colour- Light Blue

Wrath!
Animal-Bear
Punishment-Dissmembered alive
Colour- Red

Pride!
Animal- Horse
Punisment- Broken on the Wheel
Colour- Purple

Lust!
Animal- Cow
Punishment- Smothered in fire and Brimstone
Colour- Blue

Greed!
Animal- Toad
Punishment- Put in Couldrons of boiling oil
Colour- Yellow

Well i'm just getting round to properly scanning in and editing my sketchbook pieces so they look good and i can put them online! It took ages my scanners pants! But i'm so happy now i've got them done! Just uploaded them into projects on Behance.com my word it was more complex then i thought, i've got the hang of it now though. Heres a peak at my pieces...

It was fun and it's quite a cool result...

Seperated at birth?

James Fenwick and Jame McAvoy ... NO WAY!

OZ Magazine!

Wow time warp! Found a well good controversial magazine from the 60s (most people probably arlready know about it but hey i'm getting there! Gunna investigate into this mag somemore, it has some mega gruesome-ly nice covers :) very psychodelic!

Moby - Ooh yeah

Saw this the other day on the music channel! Its a very chilled out tune by Moby but this video has a right 70s porno theme to it! its ace!

Impregnation of the Swan

New image I'm going to colour in Photoshop tonight hopefully, depends how long i can be bothered to stare at the computer screen for before i feel my brain cells meeeeeelttttingggg!

Heres the Black and White imageee for youuu I called it 'impregnation of the swan' the name came to me as i was drawing it out...i dont know why though but it stuck!
I'm kinda going back a bit to incoporate some of my old style with my new, this is first attempt hopefully i'll get a bit more imaginative over the next few days!

Little Paper Planes

Nice little website with some pretty neat designs, zines, clothes and prints...

http://www.littlepaperplanes.com/

Check it out.

Kick Back

To the seventies! Got some boots i want to show you all, i got them a few years ago from a charity show but they are sooo cool!

Havn't yet warn them out, just around my room pretending to be ace!

I fear if i ever went out in these ...i would break my ankles!

Pretty A-mazing!

Again in my delve into fashion tonight, i came across one of Lady Gaga's fashion designers (who has only recently passed away) Mr Alexander Macqueen.

His work is just incredible... heres a few i enjoyed looking at ...

ahh what it would be like to be sooo talented!

Pants to that!

I came up with the idea today that it'd be quite cool to start inventing some cool lingerie designs as part of my work, kinda step into the whole fashion scene (only tipy-toe into it though). So with my new plan i embarked upon browsing the web at current lingerie designs and OH MY WORD i did not realise how many cool under garment ideas have already been produced!

There is a competition called the 'Triumph International' which is held by a massive german underwear company. Looking through some of the entries is eye poping...

These where just a few i've managed to get through and liked but there was hundreds more! Alot of the designers used nature and organic as their influnces which just goes to show you can get inspired by anything if you look closer at things.

Another designer i thought was fantastic was Jo Lynch with her...

...label. She's inspired by Nick Cave songs and other musicians such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, she creates really dark yet beautifully garments.

I love it when really day to day things like underwear can have a maccabre undertone!

Consistancy!

Well as you can see i really don't have any consitancy with upkeeping my blog! To be fair the reason is because it's all so new to me and there's still so many buttons i that I don't know how to use and lots of parts i still cant work out!

However I intend to start trying harder!

Especially because i keep finding new information and people online that i'm like 'oh my god i must remember this site...' then a week later i have forgotten and i don't trust my 'favorites' bar i think it's hiding some of the sites i saved....hmm.

Well heres to a 'continual' blog ...

Thursday, 2 September 2010

Well having lost my previous work completly for this Kings and Queens poster comp, i learnt that backing work up is essential! However loosing my work made me start again and produce a better compostion. I've gone for a more Victorian style picture frame idea and i love it! Here's my finished peice....

As you can see i'm becoming more colour aware too, havn't gone quite as crazy on the primary colours!

Kings and Queens

Well this is my attempt at my first competition for a festival. The focus is Kings and Queens, so i've created almost like mr potato head style characters. It's not quite finished yet as i'm not all too successful with Photoshop yet so i need to play around a bit more. It's coming together though .

David Bowie

My favourite vinyl to listen to at the minute David Bowie's Aladdin's Cave gotta love his 'Time' song ...Time- He flexes like a whore, falls wanking to the floor, his trick is you and me, boy!
Good chill out record!

Julie Verhoeven

I came about this illustrators work in the Sunday Times Style magazine, her works amazing! It's so simple but the use of black and white against bright colour really makes her work stand out and interesting! I love her use of shapes as well, very inspiring!
